tutorial to add a modified
registry to Track Designer

There are two different versions available. Registry_Space.tdr just contains the following new elements:

Part number Class Description
600 Old Road Space T Junction
601 Old Road Space Crater Plate
602 Old Road Space Landing Pad
625 Basic Baseplate Gray
5008 Basic Half Baseplate Gray

while in Registry_Space_Toolbox.tdr the old 9 stud road baseplates have been substituted with space baseplates, in order to ease the usage. Instead of inserting the plates with the Insert > Piece (Ctrl+I) command from the menu bar by browsing the Insert Piece dialog, you just have to select the appropriate icon from the Road Toolbox. The install procedure for both files is the same:

Download the appropriate file:

Registry_Space.tdr: TD20_Space.zip (94 KB)
Registry_Space_Toolbox.tdr: TD20_Space_Toolbox.zip (96 KB)
(The tutorial presums that you have downloaded both).
Unzip the content. (It's recommended to place the files in Track Designer's root directory).

Launch Track Designer 2.0.

You have to tell the program where the new registry can be found:

(The screenshot shows all menus and dialogs in one composed image).

  1.

Select View > Options... from the menu bar. This will pop up the Options dialog.

2.

Activate the Element Registry tab and browse for the desired .tdr file in
Filename > Browse.

3.

Confirm your choice and exit the Options dialog by clicking the OK button.

Regardless of the version you might have chosen the new elements will be available in the Insert Piece dialog when selecting Insert > Piece from the menu bar or pressing the Ctrl+I key.

(The screenshot shows all menus and dialogs in one composed image).

Choosing Registry_Space_Toolbox.tdr in the Element Registry tab the shortcut icons for the road (old style) will insert classic space baseplates instead of the default 9 stud road baseplates. To get access to the road toolbox follow these steps:

(The screenshot shows all menus and dialogs in one composed image).

  1.

Select View > Options... this will pop up the Options dialog. You should already see the Track tab. If not please click on it. Select the Gray (old style) radio button in the Road frame.

2.

In case the road toolbox is not already visible in the bar area tick Road in the
View > Toolbox menu.

3.

The icons match the following baseplates:

To restore the default registry just re-select Registry.tdr in the Element Registry tab of the Options dialog.
