community LUGNET.com unites fans worldwide through discussion groups, web pages, and services. As an independent site by fans, for fans. LDraw.org is a collaborative effort by users of the LDraw software system, which allow to create virtual models and scenes. You can use it to document models you have physically built, create building instructions, render 3D photo realistic images of your virtual models and even make animations. BrickLink.com is a premium venue for individuals and businesses from all around the world to buy and sell new, used and vintage bricks through fixed price and auction services. Visit my bricklink shop Holly Wood. Peeron.com offers the most complete collection of original building instruction scans and catalogs back to 1965 as well as inventories of all sets. Brickshelf.com hosts a user gallery with over 300.000 picture, where people show their own creations. ITLug.org (Italian LEGO Users Group) is the main Italian fan club. Beside discussion and trading through www.lugnet.com/org/it/itlug/ it also organizes events and LEGOfests. 1000steine.com is the core site for German speaking fans. programs LM-Software.com, run by Michael Lachmann, is the home of MLCad, a highly popular LDraw-based editor for Windows® and Linux® to create stylish building instructions. LDView, hosts my favorite viewer for LDraw files. Kept up-to-date by Travis Cobbs LDView also saves high quality images and works as screen saver. The gallery at the LDraw page where generated using LDView from the command line. The batch file I used can be found in the LDView section. LDDP (LDrawDesignPad) is a tool for editing and handling LDraw files in a very comfortable way. The program is the collaborative effort of Carsten Schmitz, Stephen Schonberg and Orion Pobursky. Getting the final touch to my parts would take ages without LDDP. LPub, written by Kevin Clague, is a cad tool for publishing your creations. LPub reads in LDraw files created with LDraw or MLcad design entry tools, runs them through L3P to convert them to POV-Ray format, and runs POV-Ray to create photo-realistic images of your design. The about-me images were rendered using this technique, while the wallpapers are mostly outputs of Bryce, a product by Corel®. Lcad_Calculator, says its author Paul Easter, "is intended to help calculate complex trig. line and triangle intersections" and also comes handy when converting metric or imperial measurements into LDU (LDraw Units). |
